Autumn Song

Autumn song with flowers

Just listed on Felt NZ, a new painting inspired by Autumn leaves. Autumn Song is made with mixture of exotic and native foliage. I love this time of year with all the gorgeous autumn leaves colouring the view from our windows.

When a sighing begins
In the violins
Of the autumn-song,
My heart is drowned
In the slow sound
Languorous and long

(from Chanson d’automne, Autumn Song by Paul Verlaine)

Nasturtiums

Nasturtiums, acrylic on watercolour paper

I’ve been doing some garden portraits in preparation for a book project. The foliage used in these for the leaf printing is all from my own little garden. I’ve been experimenting with some new leaves, the result is a mixture of New Zealand natives and exotics. I really like how the nasturtiums turned out and how the pictures remind me of childhood explorations of suburban gardens.
