In Autumn the fan shaped leaves of the Gingko tree turn a gorgeous bright yellow before they fall. These trees are fascinating, they are the only surviving species of an ancient Ginkgophyta tree type and are native to China. Gingko nuts are traditionally used for food and medicine but the jury is out as to whether they are entirely beneficial for either use . There is a small Gingko tree around the corner from my street that I often walk past. This tree inspired my Gingko and Wild Strawberry artwork. (detail above) It is available as a digital download to print from Corokia on Etsy.
